Step by Step

How the Mail-In Process Works

01

Contact Us First

Before sending your drive, get in touch by phone or email. We'll log your job, note the fault or symptoms, and give you a reference number to include in the parcel.

02

Package Your Drive Safely

Wrap the hard drive in anti-static bubble wrap or foam. Place it in a sturdy cardboard box with at least 5 cm of padding on all sides. Hard drives are extremely sensitive to shock — do not use soft satchels.

03

Include a Note

Place a printed or handwritten note inside the parcel with your full name, phone number, email address, a brief description of the symptoms, and your job reference number.

04

Send with Tracking

Use a tracked and insured shipping service such as Australia Post Express or StarTrack. We recommend insuring the parcel for the value of the data or drive replacement cost.

Safe Packaging Tips

Hard drives are highly sensitive to shock and static. Follow these guidelines carefully before sealing your box.

Hard drives are extremely sensitive to physical shock. A single drop during transit can cause additional damage and reduce the chances of a successful recovery. Never use soft satchels or padded envelopes — always use a rigid box with generous padding.

Use anti-static bubble wrap or anti-static foam — standard bubble wrap is acceptable if anti-static is unavailable

Wrap the drive in at least two layers of padding

Place the wrapped drive in a rigid cardboard box — not a satchel or envelope

Fill all empty space with packing peanuts or crumpled paper to prevent movement

Seal all box edges firmly with packing tape

Do not stack heavy items on top of the box during transit

Write 'FRAGILE – HARD DRIVE' clearly on the outside of the box

Keep your tracking number until the job is complete and data is returned
